Font problems are among the most unpredictable print errors. A file can look perfect on your machine but produce completely different text on the printer’s system if fonts are not embedded.

What Does “Font Not Embedded” Mean?

When a PDF does not embed fonts, it only stores the font name. When the file is opened on another system, that system looks for the same font. If it’s not installed, a substitute font is used — usually a generic typeface like Arial or Courier. This changes spacing, line breaks and the visual character of the text.

Which Software Causes Font Problems?

Professional tools like InDesign, Illustrator and Affinity Publisher embed fonts automatically.
